Visit America's first Ming era Chinese Scholar's Garden and much more beautiful plant life at the Snug Harbor Botanical Garden in Staten Island.

When you venture to Snug Harbor Botanical Garden, you'll see some of New York City's finest horticulture including more than 20 gardens. Some of the gardens at Snug Harbor also include elaborate routes of entry like Connie Gretz Secret Garden which you have to cross a drawbridge and go through a castle in order to enter. There are also unique gatherings like the Heritage Rose Garden which includes species from all over the world and a White Garden that has been fashioned after Sissinghurst. You can also find butterflies, ponds, herbs, shade, and sensory gardens while roaming Snug Harbor.


New York Chinese Scholar's Garden
Snug Harbor partnered with the City of New York, the Landscape Architecture Company of China, the Metropolitan Chinese American Community and also volunteers in order to build the Scholar's Garden which opened in 1999. The garden compiles many different popular gardening styles from China.

The Connie Gretz Secret Garden
Find your way through one of the most unique gardens to date. The Connie Gretz Secret Garden features a maze and many paths that display gorgeous plantings.
