Brooklyn Historical Society

The Brooklyn Historical Society, founded in 1863, is a renowned urban history center with unparalleled collections and an extraordinary library. Providing exhibits, educational programming, neighborhood history guides, tours and lectures, BHS celebrates all that is unique about Brooklyn and its people. The Brooklyn Historical Society’s newly renovated building is designated as both a City and National Landmark, and is located in the Brooklyn Heights Historic District.
